SCORE! Got 41qts of M1 and 35 qts of Syntec blend,should I mix?

I scored 41qts of M1 EP 15W50 at $1.22 a pop and 35 qts of Castrol Syntec Blend 10W40 at .62 cents a pop! My wife wife was soo thrilled

Should I mix or perhaps use the 15W50 during the summer and 10W40 during the winter(after the warranty is up of course)?The car in consideration is an 03 325i.

it's not at every target either. it depends on how they are faring against walmart in their particular area. do you happen to have any M1 5w-20 or 0w-20 to thin it to 40wt? good score btw

Take some in small 10-quart groups to Wally World to exchange for the correct viscosity for your vehicle. Go there at different times to avoid the same clerks.

i knew i should have got some of that syntec blend. i saw 62 cents on the shelf tag, scanned it on one of those price checker and it said $2.xx and i didnt feel like arguing with the sales associate if it came up $2.xx/qt. maybe ill have to go back and get some.

41 only? I scored 52qts..

I didn't bother to get minimal Grp III content Syntec Blend, even in stock at $0.62 at 2 of the 3 Targets I went to. EP 15w50 ACEA A3/B3/B4 SL/CF PAO syn HTHS 4.43 at $1.18 is a lot better value imo, plus I get more flexibility in mixing.

How much syn in that otc synthetic blend?

I re-checked my Target today. No 15w-50 and Syntec Blend was full price at $2.89. The price on the shelf for 15w-50 was $1.22 though.

Audi Junkie, the $0.62 blowout price is only for Syntec Blend 10w40..the $2.89 price is for the other wts 5w30 & 10w30s.

Btw, this EP for $1.18 blowout is next to GC for a $1 as tops in my best oil bargain list.

I second the unethical swapping..to me I'm happy enough to get M1 EP, going for as much $6.49 at Pep Boys...for almost next to nothing really. Besides, it's bad karma..

I also scored a bunch at my target store. I got 12 quarts of the mobil EP for $1.22, 12 quarts of Castrol GTX 10w-30 for .48 cents /qt and 6 quarts of syntec blend 10w-40 for .62 cents a quart. The Castrol rung up full price and I had to get the manager to do a price adjust. A small inconvience for some cheap oil. I scored a total of 30 quarts of oil, and I got this on 2 separate days as I had to wait for them to restock their shelves. I'll be back tommorow to check their stock again.

Must be a local thing. Targets here have a few bottles of M1 and PZ at regular price, and that's it.

Personally, I wouldn't mix the two of these oils. Castrol's 10w-40 blend is quite thick...it's in the same high 40wt range as their HM product!

I suggest buying a quart or two of M1 0w-40 and mixing it with the M1 15w-50.
