Schick Quattro: The Razor for the Extended OCI Crowd!

I love my Gillette Mach 3 Turbo. Yes, blades are pricey, but my face and a close shave is worth it.

Keep in mind it is the closest thing to an electric razor I have ever tried.

Someday I will move on to electric ones

Well I just put my last of 8 blades in the razor today. I'm guessing this one will take me to the year mark or close. I'm pretty happy so far.

1 year on 8 razor blades for under $20 can't be beat. I'm getting ready to order some more.

Looks like they increased the price a bit.

It was $23 with shipping for the 8 pack of the quattro's.

I tried using an older styled razor (gillete sensor) wow they sucked, I shaved 2 times with it and threw it out.

Mind you I shave about every day since I work for the Nation Guard and am in uniform at least 4-6 days a week

on the latest 4-blade wear tester results for various brands of shaving cream. Do they put ZDDP in shaving cream?

I'm liking the shave quality of the new Gillette Fusion with the little trimmer on the back, although the entire shaver is a bit bulky...

Darn,

Didn't quite make it 1 year on my 8 blades. I just made my 3rd order since I started using the cryo treated blades in 2005.

My next step is to store my blades in baby oil after each use. Man I would love to get 2 months out of a blade.
I've done some reading and moisture can deteriorate blades over time, especially is you keep it in the shower like I normally do, that moisture stays on there a long time and affects the blade.

Lets hope this works.

I laugh at your girlie-man disposable razors that cost mega $$$$.

Last year I switched over to a Merkur double-edge razor, badger brush, and Trumpers English shave cream. Ah heaven.

Best part....my blades are .13 a piece.

There is no way in heck that I would shave my face 4 times, just to get a good shave. Plus, how long does one of the single blades last? 1-2 days? My blades last over 1 month, that's less than 6 cents a day. I think I can afford that.

Now the shaving lather/cream looks interesting, but in a essence of time, I probably wouldn't use it everyday.

BTW, I just spent about 2 hours, watching video, and reading the forums. It's mind boggling for sure.

My blades last about a week and I have a very tough beard. Those with thinner hair can make their blades last a month. I absolutely LOVE wet shaving. It gives me 10 minutes to relax in the morning and do something I enjoy. I only do three passes to get baby butt smooth. Once down N-S, once W-E and E-W, and then once up S-N.

If I'm in a hurry, I just do one N-S pass, which is good enough but not baby butt smooth.

The hobby is quite addicting, especially trying out all the creams/soaps from the 3 major players (Trumpers, Taylors, and Truefitt & Hill). You'll never go back to that junk in a can.

It's all about technique. Took me about 3-4 weeks to get it right. The secret is NO PRESSURE on the blade and also get the correct blade angle.
