I purchased some of this oil and when I opened the bottle I was surprised to find a clear liquid that did not have the odor of a conventional motor oil. Their web site said that 7000 series is 20-25% PAO and the rest is Grp II+ base stock.
To anyone that uses this product, are these the characteristics of the Schaeffer 7000 oil that they are using? I need verification that this is indeed motor oil! Any help would be appreciated.

I thought Schaeffers dyed their oils green?

I've found synthetic motor oils (at least those from Castrol, Mobil and Amsoil) have a very bad (bitter, pungent) smell. Is that how your S7000 smells?

I checked out the Schaeffer Oil web site and did a more careful reading of the MSDS and it states that the oil is blue-green and has a petroleum odor. Instead of the tip of the finger test, I poured some in a clear glass container and it is indeed blue green. The lack of a petroleum odor is probable due to a poor sense of smell. Thanks for your help!

Contact one of the Schaeffer reps on this board. You might have a bad batch of product for which they will investigate/replace.
