I grew up in Green Bay during his tenure there. Same old song and dance from him that he's had the last six or so years. Since 2002 actually, after he threw six picks against he Rams in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

I'll believe he is retired when it is November of 2011 and he still is not playing.

I hope he does not retire, so Clay Matthews and BJ Raji can slam the old man into the dirt this year time, after time, after time.

It's fun to see his passion for the game when he's on the field.

it's not fun to watch his boy-like antics off the field.

Hope he plays, the Vikings play a Monday night game September 27th against da Bears. I was looking forward to it. NFC Central (err...North) is such a fun division to watch. The rivalries go wayyyyy back.

Hopefully Favre can give us one more year.

I hear ya!: The Bears vs. Packers, Bears vs. Vikes, Vikes vs. Packers and Lions vs. abject failure.

I never heard him say I retire this is all hear say he will be their first regular game of the season. He understands how meaningless pre season is.

I'll believe he ain't coming back when they last game of the season gets played. It's too funny how everyone falls over themselves on whether he'll play or not... The guy has it all figured out how to stay out of camp and most of the pre-season...

He should retire. It's time. Just go to the broadcast booth and make lots more money from there...without getting beat up.

And how to get the most attention, good or bad. He isn't the no-ego down-home southern boy everyone thinks he is. Deep down he is just as selfish as someone like TO. Maybe more selfish.

Hogwash. Does TO go into his neighborhood and round up a football game with the local kids at the park like Favre does? NOPE.

Gotta agree with wallyuwl here. Farve is a master of getting attention and I'd agree that he may be even more needy for attention than a TO. This from a Vikings fan who wouldn't mind (OK, I'd be giddy) if he comes back. I'll just ignore the circus of questioning of will he or won't he at this point. He's denying all of it in the media today...

as arnold used to say "I'll be back" he won't sit out a season, if he does, it would mess up his consecutive start streak? he just wants to keep playing to keep his records unbreakable..until peyton manning does it. TD record, start streak, passing yards, regular season games won. peyton will play until he's 40 and will break all of favre's records except the interception record.

Favre gets attention because he is Favre.
He does not need to seek it.
Ever look at his track record? THIS is why he gets attention from everywhere.
I hope he plays another year or two. I really think he can.

As a Green Bay Packer fan, and having lived most of my life in Green Bay, I know Brent's record well (no that isn't a typo). 24 INTs in 1993, almost being benched for Mark Brunell (Mariucci convinced Homlgren not to do it). A collapse in SB XXXII. 6 INTs against the Rams in the playoffs. Having an awful game, being largely responsible for the Falcons beating the Packers in the playoffs after the 2002 season (the first ever playoff loss at Lambeau Field). Throwing a game-losing INT against the Eagles in the 2003 season playoffs. 29, 29!!!! INTs in 2005. Throwing to Driver in OT in the NFCCG after the 2007 season (which was picked off, resulting in the game winning FG for the Giants), when three other receivers were wide open. The whole game he played very bad and even in pre-game looked like he wanted to be anywhere but on that field that day. And of course we know about his collapse the last month of the 2008 season with the Jets, and his final play in the NFCCG last year. He has as many SB titles as Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson. And he needed perhaps the best special teams ever assembled and the #1 defense in the NFL that year.

Favray has always been a diva. Even in his early years in the NFL. Ask anyone who lived in Green Bay, there are plenty of stories to go around. He doesn't play with the high school kids out of charity, it stokes his ego. If he was serious about training for the season he would train with other NFL players, like all other NFL players do.
