That’s an indication your single action sear is either worn or broken altogether. You can’t fix that with a spring adjustment.

Your revolver needs to go to a qualified gunsmith before you ever put live ammo in it. It sounds like this may have been Bubba-fied or has severely worn or broken parts. If you can push the hammer forward when it's cocked, that indicates a severe problem like a sear with a negative geometry and is NOT safe.
