My car has underbody and frame rust in the engine bay, is there a product I can buy to spray on the areas to prevent spreading?

I just ordered Chassis Black from Magnet paints online. Supposed to be better than Por 15.

I did some research and just ordered some. Kinda expensive but....

I then noticed Eastwood sells it as Chassis black. Looks like they carry it in spray cans as well.

Sounds like the best stuff out there.
I am using it on some rusty truck floor boards. Good luck

POR - 15 available at autobody paint suppliers. Don't get it on your skin as NOTHING can remove it. Will flake off your skin in about 2 weeks...trust me. About $25/ QT.

For undercarriage, etc., rust bullet works great. But from experience, it doesn't work well on outer panel rust, even when prepped properly and covered with bondo to fill in the pitting. Just bubbles out a few weeks later from behind.

I used por-15 to seal up my rusty old subaru over the course of the summer. I will be very curious to see how well it will hold up to the winter elements on a daily driver. It is some pretty wild chemistry and a mess to apply, but hopefully it'll keep the car around for a while because the motor has a lot of life left in it.

I hear a lot about POR-15 and other treatments on this board and other boards. What I don't hear is the feedback of how the car is holding up after 10 years with the treatment.

I have a car that is entering its 18th Michigan winter with Texaco Rustproof Compound L. Wherever the rustproofing was applied, the car is rust-free.

Another car in the family is entering its 10th Michigan winter with this treatment. It was only applied once when the car was new. The rustproofing has since faded away (I don't care - it's not my car, it has 185K, and it's not worth the effort anymore), and the car is as yet rust-free.

Let's hear some long-term results.
