Russell makes it interesting (spoiler alert)

I don’t think that they could have gotten 1-2, even if they had a different strategy. Those Mercedes were just so dialed in today. But the Ferraris had a massive advantage on the start!
What I meant was the Ferrari cars are definitely quick and it goes back to the smaller turbo, the same that helps them off the start. Many times Leclerc was able to get past Russell and pull away quite a bit and I presumed it was turbo-related there as well. I was just wondering/speculating that if Ferrari had pitted during the 2nd (??) safety car for new tires, those tires would still be substantially newer than the Mercedes' tires and could have helped.

I was thinking either team could have been 1-3 the other 2-4 or possibly 1-4 and 2-3 along those lines had Ferrari not gambled on (more) yellows. Seemed essentially what Ferrari was banking on. And not completely crazy first race with new cars I suppose

One thing for certain is that Ferrari needs someone else calling the strategy. They’ve been botching that for a few seasons now! Heck, just let Lewis help them out, he suggested during the race that at least one of the cars should have come in to pit during one of the VSCs. He wasn’t wrong! It might not have gotten them a win but they should have at least tried.

I'm guessing that Ferrari was expecting more car breakdowns and they'd get opportunities for safety cars and to pit and lose less time.

B

Why? So we can watch him cheat some more? Take wins from Barichello? Pay off officials? Have special tires no one else can run? He had talent, yeah for sure, but who wants the same guy to win all the time? If it's v10s ya want ok, but not the other.
That's what I was getting at the 3.5 L V10's. Those to me were the pinnacle of engineering.

I’m sure that Lewis also regrets moving to Ferrari
At least they are competitive. The other teams...not so much. Do you think RedBull will come back? Not looking good for them. They have a young woman as chief engineer. I question the "young" part as in what experience does she have in automotive racing. She may have a fancy degree but what experience?

I personally don’t think Red Bull will be competitive any time soon. After losing Adrian Newey that was a huge loss for them (although he’s not exactly helping Aston Martin at the moment either) 😬
