the girlfriend said she checked her oil...

apparently checking and adding are two different things.

Changed her oil today, out of a 5qt sump, I got maybe two quarts of oil out of the block, maybe two and a quarter if you count the oil filter...

under the oil fill cap is NASTY. think almost as bad as 60k oci BMW guy... the oil has only been in the car for like maybe 5k.

current fill is penzoil high mileage 5w30. hopefully everything comes out okay... made sure the oil was to the proper level and the oil is a bit dingier than my Crown Vic with 2000ish on the oci...

moral of the story, don't trust them when they say 'i checked it, and it was fine!"

Ask her to show you how she "checks" the oil.

i would have added a pint of mmo to clean the motor. I did that to my kids car on the last change and it did a nice job.when the car burned a half quart I filled it with mmo and left it in 2000 miles. The area under the filler cap looked much cleaner when we changed oil yesterday. The filter was much heavier and the oil was pretty black but not real bad. Still had some slickness to the touch. try it!

rotflmao. you guys are hilarious. i'll probably throw some mmo down its gullet soon, I carry one of those gallon jugs in my trunk.

Why do you make your GF check her own oil anyways ?? - If you want something done right...you know to do it yourself....plus it only takes a few seconds to do !?!

I had a friend who was a girl in High School. She had a Corvair. She said the engine got hot so she put more water in the radiator. By the time she told us of this issue....it was too late..........Kaboom......what happened folks?

Now this is a trivia question :)

*raises hand* Oohh! Ooooh! I know! I know! Corvairs are air cooled and don't have radiators!!

My wife knows when the low fuel warning light is "ON", it means I need to fill up her car. She also knows if the "Check Engine" light is on I need to do something about it.

You have just discovered PT's RULE #1 for why I only use synthetic oils in cars driven by females. It states: Should the female forget/refuse to check the oil, ask someone to check the oil or even pay someone to check the oil then you have a higher chance of engine survival if you have a sump 50% full of synthetic oil versus the same sump 50% full of dino. The use of syntheic oils is mandatory because YOU will be blamed for the blown engine because: "You put the stupid oil that ruined that enigne in there in the first place".

Does your wife have a twin sister missing at birth?

This is why cars today have dashboards with a lights galore -- service reminder lights and idiot lights and what not. That's because 80% of the owners (ie, 95% of females and 65% of males) wouldn't know what to do otherwise. IMHO it's actually a good trend.

yeah i now have a reminder set every two weeks on my phone to check her oil for her...

maybe i should just let her blow the motor and make her walk to school... she sure ain't drivin my vic...
