Ruger LCP 380

I have one. It is very easy to carry. I carry it with fmj due to its reduced power. I'm not sure a jhp will have good penetration. Mine works well with winchester white box. It is DAO and has no safety. Trigger pull is a bit long, but thats not bad for a concealed carry defensive gun.

Both are great guns. All 'teething' issues with both have been worked out. Make sure you break 'em in before relying on them. I wouldn't buy used. They are cheap enough to buy new.
I won't recommend Taurus 380 unless you don't mind sending it back at least once to make it reliable. Same goes for Diamondback even though they supposedly have worked out the issues. I haven't fired the Hellcat. And, the Kahr/Rohrbaugh/Seecamp... costs more than the others do all together.

Because of the mild carpal tunnel, arthritis, and sewn back on fingers, I have to stick with all-metal guns now. When shooting the Keltec and Ruger, I have to make a concentrated effort to keep a good grip. If not, they'll jam. Extended mags prevented the issues but defeated the purpose of pocket cannon. I settled on a NAA Guardian 380. It doesn't draw blood as quickly as my Seecamp did, and the local shop didn't have a DesertEagle Micro.

I'm beginning to prefer/like all metal guns. I just think that they'll stay in the family longer and turn into heirlooms. Plastic mouseguns in 25/32/380 are plentiful used at gun and pawn shops.

Not second guessing your choice of FMJ, and I agree that the .380 is a low power round - but there are some good HP ammo choices out there. I would be afraid of the FMJ going thru a person or wall and injuring an innocent person. Just reconsider some of the HP ammo offered today.

If you like the Ruger LCP, look into the Taurus TCP. We have bot and we like Taurus much better. Recoil is reduced and the slide locks back after the last shot. You can often find the TCP for $30-50 cheaper too. Google some reviews between the two and you'll see that the TCP is often preferred. They are made in the USA also.
