Ive never tried the engine oils from RP, but I can talk from experience about their gear oils. I swapped out the OEM transmission/diff fluid on my old 350Z and put in Redline and it was noticably better on shifts. I swapped out the Redline for RP Max Gear 75W-90 all around and it was worth $11/qt! A little notchier when cold, but once that stuff is warm, its butter!!! It was a big difference. I even flushed both the transmission and diff with 1 qt to get any old oil out of there(hey I had some cash to burn

)That seems to be a consensus from my friends that have Z's also. It has quite a following on the Z forums as well.

GMZ, I had just the oposite results. I went from OEM transmission fluid to RP Maxgear 75W90 and was not impressed at all. Iniatial it was ok but by 10,000 miles it's cold shift properties had gone out the window! It did smooth out the shifts a bit but not enough. So 30,000 miles later I put Redline MTL/MT90 in and it is great.

I don't know why they classify Gear Max a 75w-90 when it looks like a straight 90w according to the specs. I'm going by memory here, but's around 144 cSt @ 40c and 21 cSt @ 100c.

RP21 sounded interesting to me and I was considering trying some in my STi (after seeing Ed's used oil analysis). But the $12.95/quart price was pretty hard to justify (IMHO). Had it been priced closer to $8.00/quart, I think I'd give it a try.

Same hear with the Maxgear. Started great and got worse within 10k. It could also be from some plating because it didn't need winter cold for the shifting to be notchy. Probably a great diff oit and I like the engine oils if pick the right weight being aware shear.
