Royal purple HPS 5w30 for Ford 7.3 gas

My version of extended would be 10k or shortly before, which is my OLM. I just recently switched to Schaeffers and hpl which I’ll run the full length. Local shop had cases of 5-20 for $60 just to get rid of it. Seems like a good price compared to Amazon selling 6qts for that price.
Longer intervals really more depend on the engine and conditions rather than the oil.

Royal Purple get a bad name around here, not sure why and people just dont seem to understand the difference between the API stuff and HPS.

I would put HPS up against any oil on the market.

With the issues that have popped up with the valve train on the Ford 7.3 gas would running a non api certified oil that carries like 1,200 ppm phosphorus and 1,300+ ppm zinc be a good idea? Is it too much ZDDP? Thinking about running Royal purple hps 5w-30 since it has A LOT of ZDDP in it. I’m not worried about warranty issues (not yet)

I used Royal Purple HPS 5w-30 in my 1015 Honda CRV and loved it. I bought it on Amazon, I do have Amazon Prime, so that covered shipping cost. Their HPS also has their magical "Synerlec" potion that their API rated oils don't have. You won't regret using it.

Lake speed had a video about adding additional zinc like rislone zinc additive and said 3,600 ppm of zinc added to motor oil could damage a camshaft in 5 minutes, didn’t know if a formulated high zinc oil like royal purple HPS that has like maybe 1,400 ppm of zinc could damage an engine over time.

Royal purple HPS 5w30 can be used on diesels too. Not sure if it’s a good idea for my 7.3 gas. On paper with the VOA I’ve seen it looks stout but im concerned the high ZDDP could be counter productive

On a side note I went to two different Walmarts and neither of them had the supertech advanced full synthetic 5w-30 nor did they have pennzoil ultra platinum 5w30. I was annoyed
When the local Ford dealership replaced the 1st 7.3l longblock at work they said to run a higher zinc oil in it from now on. We had a couple (3 or 4 out of 10 7.3s that we had, can't remember exactly dont work there anymore) go bad at work from ~65k- 90k miles. Id keep oci's at 3-5k miles and pray. Hopefully yours is better than what we had.
