I like that 1200 ppm SL. A lot of SL was only 1000 ppm.

I wonder if there are any boutique oil companies out there that will custom blend for small customers, say on a 5 gallon purchase?

SM only in gardes other than x/40 are limited to 800ppm.

SM in grades as 5,10,15, 40 then no limit.

ANY SM GF-4 is limited at 800ppm tho there is NO x/40 grade GF-4.

If a diesel spec as CI-4/SM is first there is no limit for.

But if the diesel is say CI-4 has a 1200ppm limit easy huh.

Too confusing. And then even if the oil is not limited, the oil company may limit anyway.

Glad I have tons of SLOB and especially the quart of Bruce's 21000 ppm PCMO additive.

Does everyone really think the older formulation is better just because it has more zddp?

From the Shell site - Based on extensive industry recognized engine wear tests done by Shell Lubricants, Shell ROTELLA®T with Triple Protection™ technology provides on average 50 percent greater wear protection (ranging from 27% to 88% reduced wear) than the previous formulation.

I believe that would be their new SM formulation vs. the old SL variety.

99, you may need to hold on to that oil a bit longer before it turns to gold. The local Rural King still has it for $2.35 a quart.

O'Reilly has "SL" Rotella 10w-30 for $9.99 a 4 Qt Jug.

That's not too bad...

Next time you guys travel north to Canada you might want to check out Canadian Tire's diesel oil 10/30 it is made by Shell Canada.I believe it is either sj or sh rated.
