Just posting this to see how long it'll take Rock Auto to notice their photo for a Bosch WS
shows a filter with a crushed end.

Fits a 2010 Hyundai Sonata.

Over & out.

Does it matter? I kinda doubt I would receive that exact filter if I ordered one. I'm just happy to get multiple pics at all, they do a better job than many places though in this day and age of high-res monitors I do wish the pics were higher resolution. Sometimes you need that just to make sure a part will fit.

IMO that is poor advertising, and doesn't say much about the quality of what they're selling. If was being sold as closeout, or "seconds" that's another story. Again JMO. OTOH it could have been an honest mistake. My OCD is telling me to pass on that filter.

That's kinda funny, and in RA's case perhaps a type of Freudian slip? 'Some' of the filters from RA posted here have looked a little sketchy. Maybe RAs way of saying, caveat emptor.

Or perhaps a more literal meaning for the term, "honest mistake".

I have been buying filters from rock auto for over ten years. I Service not only our cars but neighbors and friends. All of the filters I purchased were either clearance or deeply discounted. I had a small percentage of dented ones or some slight rust. All functioned without failure. Before we bash rock auto for having dented filters remember what you paid for them. $1.10 each, then just use them and don't complain. If I paid $6.00 for one filter, then it should be perfect. Rock Auto has been a very economical way to purchase auto parts. Not always just off the production line but function every bit as well as the sparkling new part for top dollar. It's all what you want, Rock auto has been my go to for parts. I won't send a set of brake pads back or complain because the box is tore up or dusty. I would use them just the same. My Ram Truck has been using Rock Auto filters for 10 years without a problem.

Why would a photographer catch that ? He/she will presume it's "normal" and the client wouldn't supply a damaged part for their photos. The photographer may not have a single clue whatsoever what an "oil filter" is. It's a black, metal cylindrical object to him/her.

I was leaning the same way. Remember, RockAuto doesn't even touch the parts they list and sell.

I also suspect that's not a dent after all, just a really odd combination of shadow and glare in that location.

I'm assuming the filter was mailed to the photographer and probably got dented in shipment. In any case a photographer takes a few photos and if a dented photo was the best one,he or she picked out, then I would hire a new photographer.
In any case some one messed up somewhere.
