Rislone High Mileage Oil Treatment - Contents ?

Delivered today. Smells like a can of fruit (nice). Will add 750ml to my Barra engine and see what happens.

Did a 90km round trip to horse and back with passenger (daughter) today, after 750ml was added, and she noticed the engine was quieter and smoother as I did. Pretty impressive on what is a very well maintained engine.

I've been warned about using HM M1 as Drew and a few others on the customer service help desk admit using that oil could swell seals and such but after using it a time or two then it becomes the case of the seals could have unfortunate consequences.
You could spray a pea based gdi cleaning product on the top side, use techron in the tank and try a detergent(not solvent) oil flush to hit it from all sides. There are also the areas of running HPL EC30 a few thousand miles prior to change and then do the listed above.
What do we not understand about the oil ratings as SL SM SP etc?

I added this to my year old 5W-30 synthetic oil. I drove it for a couple days for about 60 miles total. Then I performed an oil change. Is 60 miles enough to do some cleaning?

It only would have done something for the time you had it in the crank case, and given the amount of time that is, probably not a ton of cleaning would have been accomplished. It would have bolstered a depleted additive pack probably.

I've bought a few used cars myself and with friends, and generally when we complete the transaction on the day of pickup we always try to get a oil change locally (especially if we went several hours etc) to get the car. If we can't find a place to get us in, we use Rislone 4102 or 100RR for the commute back to home.

I was going to use BG MOA and drive 100 miles before the OCI. However Amazon couldn't deliver it in time so Rislone 4102 was a last second decision. Thanks for the replies.

So I have a minor oil leak in a ~ 90k mile run five cylinder Ford diesel. Just to the extent of “sweating”, but between the gearbox and engine bell housings. And another bit of sweating around the timing chain cover. Not losing any significant amounts of oil as of now and the engine is smooth.

Is it worth using this or other seal conditioner to arrest these incipient leaks rather than leave this alone and end up with more expensive repairs down the line? The rest of the engine is clean as a whistle.

Edit - the leak is probably engine oil rather than ATF fluid (dark colored, rather than the barely discolored / 1000 mile since the last OCI engine oil). So probably the rear main seal or O rings, but opening up the engine to change the seal would be expensive AND lead to a sub optimal fit and finish once the job is actually done. Which is why my question about seal conditioners.

I dunno that Rislone engine cleaner is the right thing for leaking seals? It’s good for unsticking hydraulic lifters and reducing stuck rings etc. Maybe it will help condition seals, You could try high mileage oil.

Right thanks. Rear main seal confirmed so it won't be that complex a job to finish once the transmission and flywheel are unbolted. But I doubt it is worth doing right now at such an incipent stage, so yes, high mileage oil it is (or just an extra thick 15w40 given it is a 3.2 liter diesel after all?)

I can’t blame ya. Maybe it will motor along without getting worse for along time, hopefully

Hm. Rislone has a rear main seal repair product. Might be worth a try at that.

An update is that the Rislone was out of stock just then and would take two or three days to reach me, and I had to take that car out on a business trip. Got this and used it, a few hundred miles later the leak seems to have improved. Got to get it up on a hoist and check what it looks like, of course, once I'm back.

Quick update - what a surprise, it did arrest the leak. The vehicle is now on an old fashioned (and ester base stock) 15w40 CI4+ (Shell Rimula R4)
