Passed away June 10, age 81. It was so cool growing up watching dudes like this race, then go play with the Hotwheel cars in their likeness. The rivalry with Don Prudhomme made it even better. Racing the two hotwheels side by side made for some interesting Saturdays with my brother. RIP sir.

Passed away June 10th and I never saw it on any news outlet. Guess they couldn't squeeze it in somewhere with all the other important things happening around the world

I can still see the Mongoose funny car I build as a kid on my dresser with the body propped up. May Tom rest in peace. Thanks for the post.

I had a model of his car as a kid, Godspeed Tom.

Who was wearing the wingtip shoes as safety equipment in the second video ?

And don't forget Bill "grumpy' Jenkins that we lost last year. There was a tribute to ' grumpy' written by Shirley Muldowney in Hot rod magazine that told of the help he had given to her at the start of her drag racing career. Very touching. My son and I were regulars at Thompson and Dragway 42 in the 70's and *80's.

Many good memories----
