Right speakers have no bass?

This is in my Focus, both front and back right speakers sound OK for the upper range but have no bass at all. Both left side speakers sound fine over the full range.
Most likely the head unit is the problem?
I imagine the odds of both right side speakers failing the same way is pretty low.
I kind of like the radio controls factory radio controls on the steering column so I'm going to be stuck with getting another factory radio unless there could be another issue?

you can get a converter to use the factory controls on an aftermarket radio.

but most likely your stock speakers are really terrible and would still sound like [censored] and possibly die with a new aftermarket HU since they dont cut the bass down above 1/3 volume like stock HU do.

I know my stock subaru speakers were paper with about a paperclip weight of magnet on the back.. they looked ridiculously cheap and sounded like it to.

Do your speakers utilize separate drivers for highs and lows, ie. bass driver placed in the door panel and tweeter placed higher up somewhere with a crossover box somewhere in between?

No seperate tweeters on this car, and the left side sounds pretty decent to me. All four speakers are in the doors so they aren't going to do alot of bass anyways so I'd be fine with the factory system working to its capacity.
I'll look into a converter for the wheel controls, that would be ideal.

The stock door spks. in my experience are not too bad sounding, BUT you will never how good things could sound w/ a decent set of aftermarket spks. I loved how the Boston Acoustics SX85's sounded in the front doors of former Focus. Kenwood Excelon KFC X-683C are superb as well and I believe they should fit in your Focus (6"x8')These are being discontinued so you should get a great deal on them. It may be your head unit, but still consider changing out the spks. Even better, if it turns out to be be bad spks., put the workings ones in the back doors and buy one set of the aftermarket spks for the front doors. Problem solved!

if the speakers have been pushed hard for extended periods they can overheat and melt the winding adhesive. when it cools, the cone is glued down. midrange will still present but could sound muffled or muddied. upper, mid, and low bass will be -gone-. if you press the cone with your fingers, it won't move.

troubleshooting 101. swap left and right speaker and see if the problem stays or follows it. that will answer all your questions.

for integration with factory controls, nothing beats talking to crutchfield. Especially if you are not an expert. I give them my business just because they are so good about taking care of folks.
