Ridgeline anyone?

I don't care if it meet someone's needs. There are plenty of vehicles that get the same or better mileage, can tow the same or more, and have a proven track record. The thing they don't have in common with the Ridgeline is being OVERPRICED.

Low gas mileage... No low end torque... A 5 speed automatic when even Ford and GM have 6 speed automatics... Short bed length... Spare tire located INSIDE the bed instead of under... Well documented cases of body ripples, suspension, and transmission related problems...

Give me a break people. I could deal with that at a $20,000 price point, but not at $30,000+.

You have my assurance that there will NOT be a second generation without a major overhaul to address the above issues.

Ridgeline=Hitler

I think somebody is a little too emotionally wrapped up in this whole discussion.

Well, I guess Hitler was a little extreme. But I was simply trying to choose something that really has no defense.

gotta luv everyone who has never driven a ridgeline let alone own one be an expert,
yes it is overprices, but who is paying sticker
yes, it is middle of the road on everything, but honda is NOT aiming at the duramax diesel market (have one also so I can say that :-))
come ladies, it a well made refined vehicle, but not perfect,
No line-in for ipod, few little quarky stuff that drives you nutty.
what impresses me is the handling, tight, balanced.
features
I have not towed yet, nor do I have the need to tow, the diesel gets to tow not this sissy gasser which my wife drives!

Have ever put anything into the bed atleast? It sounds like you are the ideal buyer for a Ridgeline, you don't really need it as a pickup to do any work but your wife just likes to drive a pickup. And I'll give it full credit as having the nicest ride, etc... It is based on an Odyssey afterall...
Why it gets such [censored] mileage is still a mystery to me but for most who buy one gas prices aren't an issue anyways...

My father-in-law just bought a 2009 Ridgeline and it has a line-in for a ipod. It is a great riding truck. He could have bought a full size Chevy, Ford or Dodge a lot cheaper, but when he drove the Ridgeline he loved the ride quality and had to have it.

Some on here equated a Ridgeline to an over-priced 'girly' truck that somehow 'has no defense'??? I don't know what that person is talking about....but I actaully OWNED one before and I can tell you....it's one great vehicle. It does EVERYTHING they say it can do...and it handles like a dream. While having a 'car-like' suspension...it is still heavier duty than minivan. It is truly an exceptional utility vehicle. Is it a heavy-duty construction site tank? Heck no....and most truck owners don't require that....but due to the 'macho' big truck factor, many men feel compelled to over compensate with a truck they really don't need. I've had a newer F150 with the 5.4 and the Honda was MUCH better in every way except heavy duty towing and hauling (something I never really did).
Unlike some opinions on here about price....I have looked and found that you can purchase one for well under sticker price too.
Ok, I'm done....now let the macho-men attack my opinion.
Lol...

My concern is with long term durability. A fully independent strut suspension front and rear has not been proven in a truck. The Ridgeline has only been out since 2005, which isn't really enough time to see how well they will hold up.

When Edmunds test drove a Ridgeline back in 2005 or so, they blew out all four struts on a washboard gravel road. Sure, they were probably beating the [censored] out of it, but you should be able to do that to a truck. My truck has been down more washboard gravel roads than I can remember with no suspension problems. It even has the original shocks at 7 years and 72,000 miles.

Senior Consumer Advice Editor Phil Reed took the truck camping in Death Valley, California, and was disappointed with the outcome. The road to the campsite was a long, but relatively flat stretch that seemed well within the Ridgeline's capabilities. Its surface was rough washboard but certainly nothing that couldn't be handled at modest speeds by a modern truck. "I adjusted my speed to minimize vibration and eventually settled between 10 and 15 mph. I held my speed down and steered around the worst of the holes and ruts."

Unfortunately, his tame driving didn't render the Ridgeline damage-free. On the return trip, Phil realized that the Ridgeline seemed to be handling a bit strange, and took it directly to the dealer. A check revealed that all four struts were blown out and needed to be replaced. According to the dealer the repair didn't qualify for warranty work, but nonetheless, Honda agreed to cover the repair as a "one-time, good-faith" gesture. Needless to say, had they not done this our faith in the Ridgeline and Honda's willingness to stand by it would not have been good.

Until the Ridgeline has a solid decade of proven durability, I'm going to stick with what I know will work.

Opinion on what is nicer is obviously relative. I find the inside of a Lariat trim F-150 to be much nicer than that of the Ridgeline.

Hmmmm, don't like the wash-board road story on the Ridge. That's not too good. You would think though that if this vehicle was that easy to wreck the struts, thousands of owners would be complaining and it would be posted many, many times on the Ridgeline website. Makes me wonder about the honesty of that Edmond's test folks. Honda DID say that unless the vehicle was driven too fast, a washboard road would have little effect on the struts. Something to keep an eye in and maybe see a follow up. Like I said though the owners have not reported any high rate of strut failure....so what gives here?
Overk1ll..you are totally correct of course about opinions on design and how it relates to the interior. But isn't the Lariat model more costly by far than a Ridgeline? That would kind of lend itself to having a better, more fully appointed interior. Don't get me wrong though....all things being equal and if I was given either vehicle to me FREE....I would take the F150 Lariat over the Ridge.

Yes, the Lariat is definitely more money for sure. My choice as well.

yes, 1300 lbs of river rock, back sagged a bit, drove fine, I did not hammer it as it had only 1400 miles it then with its virgin oil. 1100lb plus of top soil in bags.
yes, x2 on [censored] mpg, wait wait, let me guess, it was designed in Ann Arbor, MI. Sorry could not resist.

I think the engine is still to tight (I am at 6k miles now), once it breaks in, I am expecting 40/2 mpg hwy, city has slowly gone up but then again the wife drives it, she rarely lets it glide.

wow weak struts, I am taking mine in and demanding my money back.
I am sure honda will take care of me, if they dont I hear there are lotsa lawyer going hungry in MI.

on the flip side I wish weak struts are the ONLY poopy diaper problem with my duramax, $51k sticker and I get a noisy tfr case, unaligned downpipe, [censored] regen logic, and that is at under 1k mile. Gosh, i wonder what i will find as I drive more...

In terms of functionality/$ it must be last in that category, thats why so many people bash them.
