Riddle me this?

Ok so the Bosch 3300 and 3323 have the same specs but one is longer. The Puralotor Pure one pl14612 and pl1460 have the same specs but one is longer. Wix cross refence suggest just one filter 51356 for all the above. Car A calls for one filter car B calls for a different filter. The specs seem to be the same but the filter for car A is a little longer. So aslong as there is room either filter should work for either car correct?
Actually I think that going with the larger filter is best for both cars because you get more media?
What do you guys think?

If the larger filter with same specs fits your application without having to get the torch out to cut pieces off the chassis or wheelwell then one should be fine using the "big one". I use small filter in Winter, "big one" in Summer.

Bigger seems to be better in most cases. If you can find beta ratios for each it would help. Generally if there's more filter area the oil goes through more slowly so the fibers are more likely to catch the particles.

Just use the bigger filter as long as it doesn't drop down and expose itself to danger from underneath. I had a longer filter on my Buick PA that was just a weee exposed below the frame. Most was protected, but when I put on a sandwich adapter I changed back to the shorter filter as it would now have been more exposed to the underneath side of trouble. Especially if you drive it in some of those sand hill roads that are only trails!! Sometimes there is not much clearance between the frame and the center of the track. This is how we used to clean our underneath off before we changed oil. Drive down a sandy road with weeds and grass growing in the center, and when you changed oil all was clean as a whistle!

I should be OK because the oild filter sits on the side of the engine instead of the bottom and there is a 1 foot clearance all around it.
