Purchased one of these XG7317P's. supposed to show up tomorrow. I'll be finishing night shifts tomorrow morning. Will cut it open on Monday to have a peek inside.

I just purchased one as well but this one is the common Toyota filter that shows the same box and metal screen in the picture along with the “P”. Supposed to be here Wednesday.

At $4 for the EG is good. Since I am semi internet illiterate and proud of it, and hope to stay that way, the 2006 search date was probably for the old EG, but led to the new Amazon page. I bought several Frams to dissect, posted pics here and they were very fresh stock, more recent than I’ve seen anywhere. Amazon is big now folks, too big imo.
Hope someone gets the new box and it is no longer a Champ made disaster like the ones I bought, except the Fram XG2 made by Fram I posted was also a disaster I wouldn’t put on a car.

So finished night shift this morning. Walking out the door to check on my in-laws & a package was waiting on my front porch. Opened the box & the packaging is standard / old Fram. Snapped a couple quick pictures before heading out. No metal backing but has E-Core.
I’ll cut it open tomorrow if anyone is interested but it’s apparent this isn’t wire backed media & no P version

I thought this could happen. As noted, appears what received the Champ Labs made version of the current XG. As search indicates this CL made XG discussed here 'at least' as far back as April, as shown in link* below. So nothing revelatory here and clearly not an OG XG wire backed media as seemingly pictured on the "P" suffix box. All that said, 'could be' the box changed now to indicate the use of ecore construction on current XG.

When Fram stopped making the Ultra with wire backed media, there was a time period where they would put the new design filters in the old boxes. It took awhile for the box to be changed to catch-up with what filter was inside the box. In any case, the new white box shown on Amazon shows dual layered wire backed media like back in the OG Ultra days, so obviously that's not what you received along with the eCore center tube.
Well, I just received 2 of those supposedly new Ultras from Amazon. Same old cheper version Ultra as it have been lately. There is no P on the box or filter itself. Box is still same design. However I may have old stock…

Everyone is just disappointed. It was a real link. Not on you.I have a few regrets posting it now, responses from OP created it with AI, it's a fake being sold on Amazon, people running to Walmart to look on the shelves, if it's not there it's a hoax and not real.
It’s sold directly through amazon & not a third party. Amazon is a fram retailer so it’s not a bs ai advertising scam. Amazon, through the fram store, differentiated the new part number with the P at the end.
We’ll see if it is false advertising by Amazon on the fram store or if they cough up the new filter with the exchange explicitly stating the new part number was what was ordered
