If I can find one I’ll buy it to cut it open. Where did you find this pic?
I’m starting to formulate a guess due to the fact that the box name and the filter itself do not match. But maybe that’s just me.

Not sure why but it all reminds me of the guy who used to come around now and then with some great announcement (remember the Purolator dull knives?) which turned out to be less than factual.

Appears Amazon is the only place with these new pictures. Also a new EG+. These filters seem to have part #’s with a P at the end. Tomorrow I’ll check a couple Walmarts near me.

Looks like they started showing up on eBay with the new packaging design around November 9th-10th, so far eBay and Amazon are the only two places that seem to use it. It does match the packaging changes of the other models though with a "P" getting added

Here is the formal North American Fram site list of their filters:
https://www.fram.com/products/oil-filters

I find it strange that the "new" products would be released to the public via Amazon and Ebay, but not discussed or promoted on their official site.

The OPs image is probably a bogus filter; either AI generated or counterfeit filter. It's not like Amazon and Ebay haven't ever been a place where counterfeit stuff shows up ....

OP - how about you actually put some effort into this and explain where you found the image, etc? I've reset the "edit" time for you, cuz you got some 'splainin' to do.

Truth

I still have one OG XG7317 in my stash. Box looks nothing like that and no "P" suffix. First Brands now in bankruptcy protection bringing back the OG XG complete with wire backed two ply full synthetic media and gasketed bypass seal area? Believe it when or if I see a c&p confirming all of it. Otherwise, just some pics/images generated from somewhere to somewhere else.

It "could be"...............A new box, same sub-standard crappy designed leaking filter ???? A case study on how to wreck a brand through "re-designing to a sub-standard --inferior design" that no one wants. Brilliant move....... First Brands.

FRAM just scares me. I'm scarred from the old orange cans decades ago. There are plenty of quality oil filters out there to stay away from anything FRAM. Closed minded yes but safe from that terrible assembly they produced.

It's not that uncommon for a distributor or partner to accidentally leak a new products existence before the actual brand announces it. Happens all the time with computer hardware.

In this case, the original listings (including the same URL) on Amazon have been updated with those pictures and "P" designations. They show up in the "official" Fram store on Amazon and are being fulfilled by Amazon. That doesn't guarantee anything since there's no proof that Fram is the one controlling the listings or that store, but they are the original product pages that show as first available in the early-mid 2000's

The filter doesn’t have the P on it. Searching Fram eg+ the first search result I see is from 2006 on Amazon. The link still works.
I can believe ebay sellers find old filters to sell, how else do they get oil filters? Either they are stolen or found old surplus, they aren’t buying new retail filters and selling them at a loss.
I guess they could buy retail on sale like the Boss for $4 and double their money.

Fram has done changes to filters and boxes that show up in the stores before their website shows the changes. Time will tell if this change is ligit or not.
