Replacing Lower Intake Manifold Gaskets

I would bet the gasket maker would recommend no RTV, usually surfaces need to be clean and dry.. The exception would be a dab of the CORRECT RTV at any corner end piece gaps if the engine uses any.

You will put some in the corners. It will touch the rubber intake to block gaskets and metal intake to heads gaskets.
Just on the bottom side. You don't need RTV anywhere else.

So you can R&R the lower (and elbow of course) without taking the tensioner off?

You can. I have...but it easier to loosen the tensioner and do it.

No thread sealant, use blue lock tight.
