Replacing Lower Intake Manifold Gaskets

Hi all,
was just wondering do i need to use RTV on the lower intake gaskets on my VS Commodore V6 (LG2) or is it recommended to just replace the gaskets without RTV

I would bet the gasket maker would recommend no RTV, usually surfaces need to be clean and dry.. The exception would be a dab of the CORRECT RTV at any corner end piece gaps if the engine uses any.

I have the permatex red rtv which is supposed to be oil, coolant and heat resistant to 343 degrees Celsius
My engine is the same as a series 2 GM 3800 v6 L36

You will put some in the corners. It will touch the rubber intake to block gaskets and metal intake to heads gaskets.
Just on the bottom side. You don't need RTV anywhere else.

Recognize that 3800, down to the broken plastic coolant elbow..

So you can R&R the lower (and elbow of course) without taking the tensioner off?

You can. I have...but it easier to loosen the tensioner and do it.

What do you recommend as a thread sealant for the lower intake manifold bolts ?

No thread sealant, use blue lock tight.
