I had a 01 or 02 S60. It handled flat-out awesome. was good on fuel. extremely comfy seat.

the steering was very heavy, not really my thing. but besides that i liked it. didn't have any problems while I owned it, but did fear repair costs...

Did the Intrigue come with the 3800?
I've only seen them with 4.0 Northstar V8s and 3.5 "Shortstar" V6es.

It's an interesting car. Strong chassis. Typical Northstar foibles, lot's of Northstars live long healthy lives... But a 3800 could be a longer lived engine. Some glitchy electronics. Mostly annoyances though. Nothing majorly debilitating.

Having driven an Accord, Camry, Galant, Sonata, and G6 when shopping for a new car only one car impressed me with it's handling.

I bought it.

The Mazda6 may show the same on the skidpad as the Accord or G6 but behind the wheel it's in a different league than the other cars in that class. It comes at a cost. The ride is a little firmer and it's a little noisier than an Accord, but I don't mind.

Yeah they had the 3800 in at least 98 and 99. I think they wanted the "shortstar" but there weren't enough in time.

Maybe they hoped it would be a mini-Aurora or something. Mine handled pretty sweet. Pontiac brought back the "wide trac" marketing for their W-body grand prix version.

The cars are so anonymous, too, that you can get away with a lot.

Yeah, my parents neighbor had a SC'd Park Avenue for sale for very little $$ so my Dad was always bugging me to get it, and toss the Neon...
It will sort of go in a straight line but its still 3600lb+ on mushy springs, with numb steering, with tuned for old men GM shocks, with a bench seat... Plus it had power everything and 100lbs of electronic dash waiting to die... It was not for me...

Yep, if I had a job that needed alot of travelling and someone else was paying for gas, it would be a sweet ride!

Don't forget how pathetic the gaskets were on the GM 3800 engine.

At least it was better than the 3400.
