Obviously I just picked up my 2011 S4. It's got around 25k on the clock and received the typical dealer maintenance (Syntec 5w40 every 10k, etc). The day I bought it I ran a bottle of Redline SI-1 through, but I'm wondering if a follow-up dosage of Techron Concentrate or Regane (I have a few bottles) would be beneficial.

I have no clue what kind of gas the previous owner used, except that it was supposed to be 91+ each time. This motor is FSI (direct inject), by the way.

Use the techron concentrate or the Red line si-1. Highest concentrations of PEA. Best time to use it is just before a oil change. Better for the oil to do it that way. Wait till then.

I started using a maintenance dose of SI-1 on my 135 from when I picked it up.

At 25k I suppose it is good to run a whole bottle, though on DI you need to be sure that the adds make it through the PCV to the other areas...

So I'd probably keep with the SI in a maintenance dose.

I would try the RLI fuel additive.

As a side note, let me know if you want to buy 2/3 of a gallon from me. It's too big of a hassle for me to use.

I always wondered about the "best before an oil change" theory. The bottles always state to use every 3000 miles. What if your OCI is 10,000 miles? 3 treatments?

Because the old logic was 3,000 mile OCI. The reason why using before an oil change is due to the possibility of the product working and actually loosening deposits than can accumulate and contaminate the oil.

Sure. Go ahead and use a strong version of Techron.
$7? It's worth it now. and maybe every 6 months or a year.
[I'm sure you use top tier high octane fuel in your S4 - it helps cleaning ]
I like different products - they help in different directions more and less.

So every 10k miles is ok too? Sounds good to me. Thanks volk06!!
