Hello,
This is the only section that seemed appropriate...Backed out of parking space at 0MPH and my rear bumper cover met a towing hitch....

I have a deep cut in the bumper about 4 inches long...Body shop wants $1200 for new cover and foam pad...

Anyone reapir one of these plastic covers???

I've replaced three. It took months to find one in a matching color the last time (a black Civic) or you can find a bodyshop which will paint one and ship it to you online. Obviously some colors match more easily than others, black being the easiest.

I repaired one that was cut about 4 inches with fiberglass behind it. You could still see the crack, but it looked good enough I left it that way for about 30,000 miles until I sold the car, and the new owner didn't seem to care.

They can be plastic welded or use a flexible plastic repair material available from a body shop supply.
SEM makes a good one,you grind a V into the tear then fill with this material from the rear.
Apply some to the front after its cured and sand it down, prime, sand and paint. Its easy and works great.

Badly dented foam can be cut out and a block of high density Styrofoam inserted and shaped with a surform file.

Regular spray can and clear coat can be used, its flexible enough.Total cost under $50 and some patience.

Find another body shop. These can be repaired, infact there are companies that specialize in selling reman bumper covers.
