Trying to get the fuel pump removed from this Ford 300 straight 6. The right bolt is free but left bolt is stuck. You can see the edges of the left bolt on the fuel pump in first picture. I can only get to it by putting my hand down on the right side of fuel pump and reaching over. The boxend wrench only fits going straight down and I am not strong enough to move the wrench. Not great leverage.

Cannot get it from under.

a chisel with sharp edge or a punch & hammer tap. maybe more than a tap. work the edge of the bolt, driving down. rotate 1/6 turn, drive again.
you will probably need a new bolt when you're finished extracting.

That needs to be reached from underneath. Bellyaching about not being able to get underneath doesn't change the fact that it can only be reached from underneath. Removing the motor mount would help, but that also can only be reached from underneath.

What has you convinced the pump is bad? Something that has been sitting for a long time often has a clog in the fuel pickup and / or the line from the tank.

I pulled the pickup hose and put it into a QT container of gas and the outlet hose into an empty QT container and cranked over the engine. I did not see any gas in the outlet container.

There is a bottom to the engine bay and I am not sure if it can be removed or is part of the snowcat.

Either a long extension and reach in horizontally from a distance, around other components, or a half moon wrench, which will change the angle of your leverage.

I managed to get it out with a deep socket and ratchet. The stuck bolt had a white-ish powder on it and the easier bolt had normal threads with a touch of oil.

By the time the bolt was half out the ratchet was hitting the side of the engine bay. So not a lot of room horizontally.

Picture is below. Should I be able to move the lever by hand? I cannot. It's been awhile since I have worked on something with a mechanical fuel pump.

Does not look like there is anything to take apart besides taking off the filter canister.
