Hello all,
I've asked this question on other sites and never seem to get an answer. Back in October we purchased a '16 Odyssey and so far it's been great. We only recently discovered an issue with the rear HVAC system. When you start the car or turn the thermostat from hot to cold or vice versa, the blender door for the temp just rattles like hell for about 15 seconds, then stops.
I looked up a video on how to replace the component and it looked stupid easy. Take the interior trim off and the solenoids are looking right at you. R&R and off you go. Except that's not how easy it was. When I got the trim off, it was immediately obvious that the solenoids were on the back side between the ductwork and rear quarter-panel. I'm able to reach the blend door for the ceiling and floor vents, but it's not the one acting up. The temp door is further down and even after tearing the whole system apart (as best as I can), there's no way I can get my hand back behind the remove the screws holding the solenoid in.
I don't have any pictures right now, and with as cold as it is it'll be a while before I'm able to tear it apart again, but has anyone got any ideas on how I can fix this? Is there some bolt or screw I'm missing somewhere? Has anyone DIY'd this themselves, or should I just take it to the mechanic/dealer and have it off my hands? I removed everything I could find. Only thing holding the unit to the floor looked like it went through the floor and had no way of being removed.
TIA
