So i am going to purchase a remote filter mount for my transmission. I have the option of having the threads the filter screws onto to be either 3/4-16 or 13/16-16. These are the two mounts i am looking at. http://www.jegs.com/i/Derale/259/25729/10002/-1?parentProductId=1335930#moreDetails

I was wondering if one was better suited for transmission use as far as filter gasket diameter and thread size goes. The remote mount with the 13/16-16 thread has a base that can accept from a 2.5-3.5in filter gasket diameter vs the 3/4-16 mount which can only accept 2.5-2.75in filter gasket diameter. Also can i use an engine oil filter to filter the atf or does the filter have to be designed for atf? Thanks

An engine oil filter will work great. Guys here do it all the time.

I say use the 3/4-16 setup. You'll have a wide selection of well priced filters. Motorcraft filters FL-400s, FL-910s and FL-1A are under $4 at Walmart. You could also bump it up to the Fram Ultra equivalents.

I am not sure whether one gasket diameter would be better suited for the job vs. the other.

13/16 is an odd size. Some filter mounts come with a handful of fittings to make it a universal fit which allows you to use any filter as Long as the gasket OD is the same.

Easier to then use a the same filter as what is used for oil on the car.

Don't get the in and out mixed up though or there will be no flow.

Chrysler and Fords were. Now most are a metric thread.
