That pretty much sums it up. RL said -15*F. However my thinking is that during the cold start even from lets say 0*F and during warm up time the oil with the better 40*C numbers will be better. At operating temps the oils are still a 20 grade. Based on that I would have given the two thumbs up to the 0W20 oil. Dr. Haas's writings point to that logic as well. Towing and severe use is another story. Now looking at the Toyota 0W20 oil specs it seems to give the best of both worlds IMO.
 
I should have 10,000 rough miles on RL 0w20 soon, so we will be able to see how shear stable that oil is!

knew it was Redline and the milage it was used.
Wouldn't one think twice about a 14% drop in measured viscosity and maybe run that part of the test again to make sure?
I mean, one's expecting something around 9 cSt and you get 7.8 cSt.

But what if it really was that thin?
What happened?
I can't find a VOA of this Redline 5W-20.
