Recommend me an oil for my 3.4l V6 Tacoma

Hello guys, I been using M1 but I noticed that it makes my engine louder(ticking valve noise) so I'm looking for a new synthetic oil. What do you recommend me on a 5w30 weight?? Thanks

What oil change intervals do you follow?

If you stick to the 5,000 mile perhaps you can give the TGMO 5w30 a shot, although not synthetic.

For synthetic my next move would be a Pennzoil synthetic, either Platinum or Ultra.

5k or 6mths since most of my driving it's city short commute

I would give the TGMO 5w30 a try. Even though it's not synthetic, it should do fine for your interval.

Go for it! It's a good oil at a reasonable price. See if you like it. If not try another one. There's plenty to choose from. Stick with a name brand and it's hard to go wrong.

Have the same engine in an 01 Tacoma now with ~130k miles. The 3.4L is very easy on oil and very durable. Depending on what oci most any quality dino, (I prefer majors/name brand), will easily handle 5-6k oci's with no problem. Longer for majority highway driving. I've run mostly dino for 5-6k oci's. The last two were with free after rebate G-Oil.

If you want to run longer 10k+ ocis, most any quality synthetic will do nicely.

Bottom line, in my experience with regular maintenance the 3.4L is not fussy.

+1. With only a 5k interval you could also consider OE or XL to save on cost.. All are good.

Yes, it seems to be an excellent oil. Mobil Super 5000 has a strong following as well.

You could put burnt coffee in these Toyota engines and they will probably keep running!

I think I'm gonna try Royal Purple. I heard some good thing about it.

How many mile is on that 3.4L. If it in the 100K plus range, 5w30 Maxlife in either formula. WalMart had some jugs of the full Syn Maxlife for about $20 recently. There is a reason it's called Maxlife.

Off the shelf RP is overpriced for what ya get.. Pennzoil Ultra is a much better off the shelf oil value wise..
