The vehicle is a low mileage 91 Honda CRX Si. Oil will be changed to German Castrol 0W30 in the fall before going into storage. Oil is changed yearly. I am currently leaning towards the Fram Extended Guard 3593a, Honda S2000 Toyo Roki, or Hyundai (yes, Hyundai) OEM. Remember that I'm in Canada and that our selection of filters is limited.

Why german castrol for storage (from what I've read people with 4 cyl motor often don't like what it does to them)? Get an OEM filter and use any conventional, blend or synthetic.
Go cheap for storage purposes and then put synthetic in it when you take it out of storage.

I'm not sure where you'll find they Toyo Roki, they're hard to find not mail order. Not sure why you want the Hyundai? The Extended Guard isn't bad.

GC and a six dollar filter is a lot for this engine, they usually run on dino changed irregularly forever.

I use Hyundai OEMs on my 2009 Accent and have a few of them in the garage. They are built like tanks and are the same size as the 3593 filter. Got the GC on sale. Car only has 30,700 original kms and has been baby'd all its life. Canadian Walmarts only sell Frams (orange can and Toughguards). Canadian Tire has switched their house-brand filter to a Chinese manufacturer from Fram, but is an unknown quantity at the moment. They also sell Purolater-made Quaker State filters.
Frankly I am disappointed with the current Purolators, but they are still better than Frams. Fortunately for you Canadians and your poor selection of filters, I don't think better filters do much to increase engine life. I would run which ever is cheaper.
I don't think choice of oil filter will make any difference.
Unless that CRX has a high pressure/flow oil pump the Tokyo Roki s2k filter might be a bit to much for it as it has a much higher bypass pressure filter than the regular Honda spec oil filter. Might not make too be a difference if you run a 0w synthetic.
I assume the Quaker State filter is cheaper than the ToughGuard, and I would buy that... although if you have a bunch of Hyundai filters they're definitely better than the regular Frams (since WalMart will not change the oil on some Hyundais with the fram filters they carry in their quick lube express).
Car is 18 years old..so the cheapest filter made and cheapest oil available will be better than what the car was designed for.
Napa Gold.. Any Napa store carries them. They should be available near you. Partsource carries K&N filters, and Carquest can get just about whatever you want. (Royal Purple I've seen there for example)

If you mean the Extended Guard, then yes, it is under consideration. But there is no way I'm using a filter with paper end caps on my engine. That's why I will not even consider the Honda A02 (Fram) filter.

Napa Gold 1356. According to Wix, it offers finer filtration (better beta ratios) without changing the recommended bypass setting.
