Looks like we (Albany NY) are in for an entire day of snow. Glad I can work from home with my laptop. They are asking people to take public transportation as worried people can get to work, but not home in the late afternoon. School kids getting a snow day after a long Christmas vacation.

My 36" Airens is ready to go. With a backup old 28" and Bobcat 843.

Generator(s) ready also.

Most important, an ample supply of Diet Pepsi.

We were supposed to get 12-18 ... it only snowed about 3 inches

I am ready. Have a lifted Jeep equipped with skinny studded / siped A/T tires. Lotsa food and water in the apartment.

I'm further south in the 6-10" band last time I checked. Thankfully most is supposed to come overnight, only making tomorrow am commute a bit challenging.

Glad you got your essentials down Donald.

We've been getting, and are continuing to get the snow.

Saw a few vehicles in the ditch on the 219 and local roads on my way to work. Like the song, just taking it slow and easy and my 20 mile commute wasn't too bad -- snow tires, keepin' the Accord at a 30-35mph 3rd gear pace.

At this time I would like to include you all in a prayer for my sons 5HP 22 in snow blower. Please allow this dumb thing to start, and the oil to remain liquid. And that the new gas line, and float bowl gasket seal against all forms of ethanol gas that might flow thru it. And that the impeller throw snow as far as possible, without stalling and causing the pull rope to break, again. I ask this so that I might remain at home and not have to travel long distances in the snow to work on this machine, again.Amen.,,,

Lovely start of a new work year: had to shovel 4" of snow off my driveway at 6:30 so I could drive to work at 8.

Outside temp was 11F.

Amen.

The bitter cold that is coming in tonight won't be too fun. Im going to start the Jeep and let it run for a bit tonight to let it charge up the battery.

Once it gets warm out, I am going to figure out that parasitic draw!

Amen- and to add to - all of us who will be cranking up the old blowers and for the backs of those who will be shoveling.

Mice may have figured out a way to heat their nest for the winter?

Just a dusting up here, but it is currently -12 degrees farenheit and all the ice and snow from a couple weeks ago is still hanging around.

I wouldn't be surprised! My Jeep does sit around a lot.

I think it's the remote start system. Once I can find the parasitic draw and confirm it's the remote start system, it's going to a shop whose owner I personally know and get removed.

We got about 3-4" along with 10F weather.

I have a 6800Watt genset ready to go. 9HP Simplicity snowblower and 10 gallons of fuel in case. My MDX has new Nokian winter biased tires ready to go!

My favorite part of these storms my Jotul Woodstove keeping our family room/kitchen/home office at a balmy 78F. I am currently sporting a tee shirt and flip flops.

The meek will inherit the earth. This blower sounds like the meekest of them all.

If the pull rope breaks, you can sometimes put an electric drill on the flywheel with appropriate adapters. For briggses I used to use a 7/8 12 point socket on 3/8" square to drill shank gizmo; the 12 points fit the squarish rope starter gizmo connection well. Then I could crank it up real fast, faster than the pull rope even. Cleared some old gunk out of "whatever" after a lengthy storage and it ran.

I tried that when a weedwacker had some unknown failure and no longer ran. I melted the drill. Though, it probably had something to do with the fact that it was a 6V cordless drill hooked up to a 12V car battery.

One down side realized.......

I have 10w30 dino in my generator set because normally it sits in semi heated garage. For this storm its sitting outside. Pull starting a 12HP motor is not going to be fun if I have to go there especially with anticipated -10F temps tonite.

We were supposed to get 4-12" by 1am friday here.

about 5" right now and snowing.

then later tonight dropping to a low of 7F ..

I have been resisting to clear the driveway.. want to wait till its about 7-8" deep.. the toro 2450 totally anniliates anything upto 10" or so.. its no effort to about 12"

Also I have 2 schools where kids walk in front of my house so I was going to clear the block for them closer to the time they get off school.
