One time I cut apart an oil filter with a grinder but I didn't cut completely through on the first pass. Also I didn't pay any attention to the metal flakes as those were expected from grinding the canister and not to be misinterpreted as excessive engine wear.
That guy Nate has no idea what he is talking about. I’d put him on the same level as people who think they get used filters when it’s just the assembly oil
