Question about the miscible oils.

As I understand, oils if one line of the oil can be blended regardless of viscosity (0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40). But sometimes there is a need to mix oils of different viscosities, for example (0W-20) + (10W-40) - will this mixture be completely equivalent in properties to the oil 5W-30?

Question 1: How will differ in their properties:
1) oil SAE30 (one single oil viscosity)
2) a mixture of 50/50 oils: SAE20 (50%) + SAE40 (50%) - a mixture of two oils of different viscosities.

Question 2. Spectrasyn4+Spectrasyn8=Spectrasyn6? Or there will be some new properties of such mixture?

QUestion 2. 0W-30 + 10W-30 = 5W-30 ? Or there will be some new properties of such mixture?

p.s. One interesting table:

no you cant do that since they are engineered products with viscosity ranges and additives the mix will have new properties.
usually inferior properties if you mix oils with different additive packs

such as shell and valvoline.

Now if my car called for 5w30 and I had M1 5w20 and M1 10w40 in my basement would I mix? possibly. Esp in the summer.

But just mixing 3quarts of 0w20 and 3 quarts of 10w40 doesnt equal 5w30.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-20 + Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 10W-30 = 5W-25?
Or there will be some new properties of such mixture?

You can estimate the properties of the final mixture, but without extensive lab testing, there is no way to know for sure what you end up with.
If you have to mix occasionally, or it's a one or two time occurrence, go ahead it won't hurt. I would just not be doing it on a regular basis

The 25 grade doesn't exist, so it would probably end up being a 5w-30. But if the cold temp performance tanks, it could be a 10w-30 still, just lighter than the original 10w-30.
