Just put a K&N on my Ram in signature. The breather house is alittle to small; for the K&N valve on the back of the plastic intake part. It fitted fine on the orginal intake from factory. Im talking about the house that comes out of the valve cover and not the PCV valve. Question is--do I need to connect that breather tube? I will have to purchase a rubber one than I would imagine that is more plyable. All feedback appreciated!!

yES YOU HAVE TO CONNECT TO A SOURCE OF DRY filtered AIR. if THE AIRBOX IS OPEN, k&n SHOULD HAVE PROVIDED A SMALL FILTER FOR THE pcv CLEAN AIR INLET.
tHIS IS AIR THAT IS INGESTED into THE CRANKCASE. nO ADAPTER WAS INCLUDED?! - CONTACT K&n; I imagine THIS IS A MISTAKE ON THEIR PARt.

sorry about the caps lock, im not goin to retype.

Its best to connect that tube. That's where the fresh air supply goes into the crankcase under conditions where the PCV pulls more air out than blow-by produced. As such, its where most abrasive contaminants get pulled into the crankcase UNLESS it gets a supply of filtered air. Some vehicles let it pull "dirty" air and pass that through a small foam filter, or oiled wire mesh filter in the breather cap itself. But its best if it pulls air that's already gone through the engine air filter.
