I am not in the defense "industry", I am an actual Navy engineer. Same type of deal though, we do real R&D, acquisition, etc.
There are a lot of folks who are relatively recent naturalized citizens, etc. They couldnt work there if they couldnt get at least a secret clearance.
Im quite suprised sometimes at who we work with on the outside...
