When I bought my current refrigerator, I asked the salesman what brands tend to get the fewest returns and complaints. He said any more, Whirlpool is just as problematic as any of the others.
It depends. You trust what a salesman has to say?
Most fridge's have a 10 year warranty on the compressor. But prob not the electronics. The thing is, for us DIY types, a replacement compressor is actually rather inexpensive. Less than $200 if ya look around.Years ago My LG needed a new compressor and a new board to communicate with the updated compressor model I was told, at just over a year. Sure glade I got the 5 year warranty.
GE is one year warranty including compressor. Most fridge's have a 10 year warranty on the compressor. But prob not the electronics. The thing is, for us DIY types, a replacement compressor is actually rather inexpensive. Less than $200 if ya look around.
I've seen Whirlpool ones for $100.
I will be adding an ice maker.I bought a Whirlpool w/freezer on top last summer. No icemaker, no display panel, rotary controls.
The cell phones they used to make were top quality units. Better than anything made now.LG is the absolute bottom of barrel trash. Whirlpool (which is probably what your Kenmore is), GE or Frigidaire are the best.

You must have had the updates activated, I think mine is at least 13 years old now?Had an LG G3 that would randomly just crash and reboot. Garbage products.

A number of newer Whirlpool fridges are said to have a lifespan between 10 and 20 years. A few years ago LG went with a horizontal compressor that had close to a 100 percent failure rate. Our 33 year old Kenmore refrigerator is going south. Shopping for replacement. Not french door type. 30 W X 28 D. Top Freezer. Leaning to LG or Whirlpool. What's good now and what's junk? Guessing Nothing will last 30 years now days. Our whole kitchen was Kenmore. Most of it was junk but the refrigerator stood the test of time.
Any of the brands repairable?
