for 3000 miles, theres really no difference between the two. They are also the cheapest name brand oils at Walmart so regardless what you choose your getting a good deal

My two GM ecotec motors run a little quieter on 5w30 Quakerstate over Mobil5000. I have no evidence to back this up, your results may vary.

These oils are the two cheapest oils at walmart in 5 quart jugs (excluding supertech).

For $10.50 per jug, you can't go wrong.

I think given those 2 choices I would go with QS. It is the cheaper of the two and should be great for 3k.

3k, doesn't matter go with the cheaper of the two, recently QS. 5k, I'd say the same.

Your manual says 3k OCI for severe service? Is that your primary driving profile? If not you might consider 5K OCI. JMO

I would choose whichever is the cheapest which seems to be the Mobil Clean 5000 at $2.77 a quart or $11.50 five quarts jug at WalMart. Quakerstate is a great choice as well and is made produly by SOPUS who also makes Pennzoil, Shell, and Supertech (southern states) motor oils.

Very true Johnny...just a repost to my last quote.

Everyday Wally prices, MC5k less expensive by the qt., QS less expensive by the jug @$10-10.50 which includes 5w20, not jug available with MC5k.

Fwiw, ST used to be XOM here except 5w20 and syn (WPP). Now WNE (on bottom) in all grades except 5w20 and syn which are still Warren Perf. Pack. (WPP). While still Warren Dist., not sure if WNE is the same as WPP or comes out of Warren Northeast (WNE,WV) with an unknown supplier.

It's true that QS has more boron, but less moly than MC5K. But I think Mobil doesn't have sodium anymore. Just Valvoline and Castrol does. MC5K seems to be an excellent conventional especially for the price. It and QS seem to be the best value. PQIA test results
