Hello,

This is the first post for me. Long time viewer. Idon really see or hear much about the Quaker State synthetics. I am currently Using Mobil 1 10w-30. I used QS years ago and the local Dodge Dealer installed QS conventional in my dads 2008 Dodge Ram hemi. So i guess it cant be all that bad. I would like to use Q synthetics but i dont know if i should or just stick with i use now. If it helps i have a 2002 Chevy 2500hd 4 wheel drive 8.1 liter powered pickup. and yes it hauls. alot of weight upwards of 10000-15000. currently run about 4000 oci, just out of forsive habit. thanks for any help

I'm curious, what is "forsive habit"?

forsive habbit is just that i know that i could change oil later at like 5000 or 6000 miles but generally i just do it to change it and keep it clean. even though i am 22 i still like the 3000 oci method, maybe i am weird. maybe i have just seen too many sludged engines.

ahh...'force of'

My read on the situation is Q-Torgue is not the 'good stuff' but the Q-HorsePower maybe (like the PP Shell's VHVI base). Also add pack on PP is likely custom, perhaps QS is off-the-shelf.

QState Synth is good stuff. I stocked up on the 5w-20 variety when AAP had BOGO free last year. Right now, our Vue has 5500 miles on the current run, a UOA will be forthcoming before long.

Someone must have some serious time on their hands...Or like my mother told me one time.. Someones Masters is showing.

Torquepower? Horsepower? Truck and SUV?

puhhhlease!!

Reminds me of Excedrin headache medicine... They have back formula, migraine, headache, etc... ALL WITH THE EXACT SAME INGREDIENTS AND AMOUNTS.

Folks please!!! its all marketing. its all the same stuff. I will bet you a million dollars, if you ran plain old Quaker State and Q Horsepower ( brrrrr... FEEL the power!!!

) and used the same filter and changed it at the same interval. ( within its limits) you would never know the difference nor would you feel the difference or see the difference and you would never change the world.

Hey heres a good one... What color is the best???

ha ha ha!!! you bring in the true aspect of it all. what i was wondering is any of it good. does it help clean will it last for a fair amount of time. will it sludge due to wax or something.

Petrou,

I tried the "Q" once in my 01' Dodge Durango 4.7 engine and found it to be a good oil. No issues at all and for the slight price difference compared to Mobil 1 it can't be beat. Wether it's better than PP of M1 I can't say.

One of the local Chinamarts was/is having a sale on the Q Torquepower. I cleaned them out of their 5 and 10w30. It wasn't BOGO but at $4 a quart I couldn't pass up a quality synthetic. They have 10w40 left but I don't have any vehicles that use 40 weight or else i would have bought that too!

Just bought some of the Q TorquePower 5w-30 to put in my 02 Dodge Dakota 4x4.

WallyWorld had this oil on clearance for $11.00 for 5qt Jug and $2.50/Qt.

6 Qts for $13.50 and a Mopar M0-90 Filter for $6.27 = Not a bad oil change for less than 20 bucks!!!!

Looks like Q Power name is being discontinued and Quaker State is renaming all the oils for the "oil challenged" crowd so people won't have to worry about the difference between conventional, synthetic blend, synthetic, etc:

New Quaker State Oil Names

Advanced Durability
- conventional oil
Higher Mileage Engine - comes in a red bottle, but I can't see any mention of Slick50 on the small pictures on the web site.
Enhanced Durability - Synthetic Blend
Ultimate Durability - Full Synthetic

The information on their new website is pitiful (unless I just couldn't figure out where the specs are located).

Petrou,

I've tried the Q "Horsepower" version in my Dodge Durango not too long ago and found it to be a fine synthetic oil to use. No scientific date to show ya but from myself I had no issues during it's 3K mileage trial. If the price is lower/cheaper then you have nothing to lose to try it. I did and came out a winner.
