Find a car that uses Dexron or Mercon ATF in the power steering system, then replace the power steering fluid. 1qt usually cleans the system up very well.

My 2011 Focus uses Mercon V as I used some MC fluid 6k ago in it

Would this fluid be ok to use in a ford like my 2011? I'm thinkin no

No.

All the T56 six speed transmissions from 1993-2002 and later were specced with DEX 3. That stuff might be a lot stouter than what is being sold as generic DEX 3 today. I'd use it in my T56.

car 51.....I think Mercon V.....is a different product from the original Mercon. My 03' Focus takes Mercon V also.

Therefore.... I would not take a chance on using it. Afterall....Mercon V (at WM) costs under $5 a quart.

Candidate for the acetone/ATF breakfree

Yes, you get longer engine life by using their ATF

Check to see if the oil is clear and bright. Look at bottom of bottle for additive separation. If oil looks OK it will make a fine general purpose oil for lubricating gate hinges.

This fluid would work in that truck.

Some older Fords used Type-F in the power steering system, but nothing bad ever happens when Mercon or Mercon V is used.

Do you have any friends with a Nissan? Those often took Dexron ATF in the power steering.

If the seal was broken, I would get rid of it, who knows what's in there. Otherwise I wouldn't hesitate using it.

Nick1994: I gave the Jeep to brother for "winter work vehicle" and I noticed that also. He has the ATF now.

Thanks for the heads up
