Dont know why

btw, dont fall for their heat activated formula.. thats just mumble jumble. If you want a nice synthetic try Royal Purple or Amsoil, nothing wrong with Pennz ither.. or Castrol... or ..

Now someone who knows nothing comes to the site and reads this profound comment of refined science and passes it on.

"for some reason"

For some reason I think a lot of what is said on this site is poppycock.

at least he qualified it by saying he doesn't know why!
but then he had to stick his foot in his mouth by saying RP LOL

In regards to the QS syn, I really liked it for the first 7,000kms, but now at about 11,000kms it seems like th eengine is consuming it, so I have added an additional .4 of a liter since the last OC. With M1 of the same weight and driving conditions, I was able to run a full 20,000kms with only 1 oil filter change and a small top up in between.

Sure it's made my engine alot quieter than M1 did, but I hope my next OIC with PP will be better.

On a side note, 97 Escort, I have a case of Valvoline 10w30 I purchased cause it's just so darn cheap! I wanna run a rinse cycle and I think this is a good oil to flush with.

Summer's here and I think that with a slightly thicker oil with the added temps and stop and go traffic that it will fair OK and not too thick at startup///What say you guys? Should I swap it for some 5w30 instead due to the thickness?

Thanks in advance!

If you use 5W-30, the PP Noack is higher than the QS Noack.... meaning odds-are, you will consume more with PP in there.

Only concerned/worried about consumption???... use Amsoil.

should I add something to clean up the deposits that the QS left in there? I dont' plan on running the dino nearly as long as I did the QS or the M1 for that matter....maybe 3,000 miles or so.

Is there a detergent additive that's recommended that should clean everything up during the cleaning phase?
TIA

Back on topic.....

I just installed Quaker State QTorque Power 5W-20 in my 2004 Chevy Colorado 3.5 five cylinder. Man - that stuff was really thin pouring it in. I've used 5W-20s before in my S-10 4.3 engine, but never seen it this thin. I can't find any data sheets on Torque Power oils -- just the regular QS synthetic. It made-me so nervous, I used a half-bottle of VSOT to thicken it up a-bit. But since the Colroado sump holds six quarts, I doubt I increased Cst more than a half-to-single digit.

I won't quote a certain tribology guru on here, but his thread is around....says the QP oil is a great oil and to have no worries.

Well... this truck is about to embark on several hundred miles of mountain-climbing - beginning next weekend. The trip should entail around 2,000 miles. If I encounter any issues, I will certainly report it here.

once i'm done with the ARX cycle in my F150, I'll be running the Q-Power 4x4 5W-20 for quite some time, thanks to AAP BOGO.
