My first post here. Hope the pics work OK.
Have the oil changed in previous weekend about 6 month/6000 miles with penzoil platinum and have the filter cut last week. The filter were bought in the end of 2014 when they were on sale in our local store about $5, still have 4 left.

Is that some kind of homemade filter cutting apparatus? Filter looks good.

yes.

the two screws on the right side hold the groove on top of the filter.

the screw on the wood stripe works as blade. Not very sharp but enough to cut the aluminum filter with a little effort. Repeat the process of screwing the screw in and turning the filter.

It looks great. I guess they aren't making those anymore?
I guess the boss is its replacement it seems.
