Do the small diameter oil flow holes in the center tubes of Purolator filters like the L10241 or L10111 restrict oil flow over other brands of filters (especially during cold weather startup). The Wix filters have larger holes and the Ecore's have the plastic cage. Would the Ecore flow with the least amount of restriction? The Ecore technical information states that the Ecore has 10x more open area for improved oil flow.

I'd saytou need to compare the sum of hole area vs the area of the tube. Lots of very small holes canbe the same as a few big ones, and may distribute flow better. Because of infinitesinally small tube thickness, preside drop through the length isn't an issue, but the void area is.

all oil filters restrict flow a little bit otherwise they could not filter the oil if you use the correct viscosity which is usually 5w20 or 5w30 you will be ok remember when it comes to oil thin is in twenty years ago 10w40 was the oil to have that has changed for a number of reasons including bearing clearances

Your engine produces the most resistance your oil will see ..by a tremendous margin. Once the engine is enveloped, the filter (typically-ymmv) isn't even there.

Thanks for the info everyone. That filter chart (from the last post) is impressive.
