Hi, after praising Purolator I have this one to show, I import these from Amazon USA for about the same price as budget filter over here. Its done 10,000km of hard work. The media was ok no tears. Have a look.

Last 5 or so starts had rattle. I have a Bosch premium (same filter) on now but it wont be a long interval. Let me know what you think.

I cut it apart a month or so ago and removed the media to have a close look. Do you really want to see that. Ok this is all I have left. I'm hoping the metal was from a re tap of one of the turbo drain bolts to the block I did. I have a UOA coming on this as well if I ever get it.

Thank you. Your pictures are nice & clear however seeing the filter element/media prior to cutting it apart is important to us viewers. We like to see the pleat spacing and how well it held together, whether or not the pleats are wavey or straight, crimp together or glued...things like that.

Nice first attempt,
CB

Your fine my Australian friend....

I was seriously just joking with you. My post was honestly the first thought that came to my mind. I was laughing a bit while typing it...

We all can and should learn some things, way to do things, or how to conceptualize new or different concepts.

I have learned a whole, whole lot since I have been on here.

I sincerely appreciate your time and effort here. Hope you had a good day today.

Not so much for the ADBV.

Yep, you were right Zee. I don't know which way to go now. I have a K&N Silver next to go on and I have some of the new Luber-Finer PH820's with the e-cores which are probably the same filter as the new K&N Gold. It might be back to the Motorcraft AF101 which is the factory filter here in Oz, its an Asian FL-820s basically.

This one is remarkable in that it's the first Purolator built filter to "eat" the ADBV hard enough with a non-deburred baseplate to cause trouble. Guess bad machining is a real issue after all! Nice pictures, OP.

On a more positive note, the louvers look exceptionally good, and in the picture of the adbv lying flat, the cut isn’t open. I can’t see the cut actually.

I have seen too many Purolator ADBVs with damage over the past year or so.
A guy posted a video on youtube of a new Purolator Boss oil filter,. The filter had a lot of excessive glue on the filter media and dabs of glue on the top section of the end cap... The filter looked like a art project.

Well, the fact that the OP stated he had a lot of start-up rattle with it definitely means the ADBV was having trouble. I've been watching anything with louvers I've used, they have all looked OK so far. Unfortunately there's no way to check for sharp baseplate holes!
