C&P - Purolator Tech TL20195 3k miles w/ HPL EC

2007 Toyota Camry 2.4L - 164k miles, 3k miles OCI

Out: 1) Purolator Tech TL20195, 3.5 quarts SuperTech High Mileage 5w30, 1 quart HPL Engine Cleaner, 3k miles.
2) Same TL20195, 4.5 quarts SuperTech High Mileage 5w30 and whatever remained after 5 cans of Berryman's B12 soaked over pistons, 5 miles.

In: Carquest Premium 84145, 4.5 quarts Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20

I like these Purolator Techs when they are ~$2.5 on Amazon for short OCIs. This filter went on after I did the first piston soak with 5 cans of B12 on my Camry. I did a second 5 can soak that I let drain out of the pan and left the filter on to flush out anything that might have been left in the engine for 5 miles. Now she has Valvoline Restore and Protect. There is quite a bit of carbon in the bottom of the can, which I'm not sure came from after the first soak or from the HPL Engine Cleaner after. Or after the second soak. I don't really care either way. Despite a bit of excess glue she looks good.

China. I'm not sure if it is a different factory from other M+H Chinese-made filters, but these have holes instead of louvers and all look the same inside (at least the few that I have cut open).

Yes I was going to guess China because I saw the proper holes like every factory should be using IMO.

Both of my grandfathers switched to PBR when Arrow 77 stopped being brewed in Baltimore back in the 60's. It's been my favorite beer for a long time. Ice cold with steamed crabs *chef's kiss*

But, I have no idea what oil filters they preferred.

I think we have the Purolator tier list backwards . Price is inversely proportional to quality. It seems as though the tech and red can have higher build quality than the blue can and boss. I don’t know what’s going on nowadays .

I am going to start my other two cars on Valvoline Restore and Protect 0W-20 (they don't have any issues, but I figure giving them a slow extended clean won't hurt) so this way I can buy multiple jugs and combine whatever is leftover. Three cars at 4 OCIs each should save some cash by the end. That and since the Camry consumption was down massively after the first B12 soak I can trade the extra bit of stability of the 30 viscosity for the fuel economy of the 20.

Looks good, an M&H "puro" made in China. When they are at $2.40, a solid deal. When they go to ~$6+ with Amazon algorithm pricing like now for the US made TL14610 (which I've had good results with as recently posted HERE ), not so much.
