Protec PXL57356 (case PXL57356MP @$1.86 excl shipping purchased Sept 2023 from Rockauto)
Made in PRC

2011 Honda CRV AWD K24 2.4L
92,000 miles
OUT: Kirkland 0w20 / Protec PXL57356 / Honda drain plug / OCI 2900 miles 12 months
IN: Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20 / Premium Guard PG4610 / Fumoto F106S drain valve

Notes: The Protec used a black nitrile ADBV and was firm and held its shape after pinching. Garage temp was probably 50F and the engine was cold. Still sealed against the base plate. Filter pleats captured some grime appeared more concentrated in certain areas and not evenly distributed throughout the filter media. Not much sediments in the bottom of the can. This filter sits vertical at the bottom of the engine. I'm the original owner and typical OCI from 2500-6700. About 2.5 years ago the K24 started to lose about 1 quart per oil change. 12 months ago I performed a Berryman B12 piston soak after a new PCV valve didn't fix the issue. Hopping on the Valvoline Restore and Protect bandwagon hoping it cleans the internals and correct any sticky low tension oil rings common to this K24 generation. Installed a Fumoto drain valve F106S.

when i had my 2011 crv it had the same issue at 90k miles of burning oil. changed pcv valve did nothing . its always had steady diet of 5/30 every 5k miles so i just could not understand why it started burning oil.

i bought a dozen of those filters to use on my other honda vehicles . Seem to work fine

I am a few years late and several dollars short. Honda evidently had a technical service bulletin 12-089 covering 2010/11 for unusually high oil consumption. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2018/MC-10152429-0001.pdf

I've always used full synthetic 0w20 oil, exclusively Honda Idemitsu motor oil through the first 50K miles. I noticed it was losing oil sometime around 75K miles. Berryman B12 piston soak at 89K. Plan is to run Valvoline Restore and Protect 0w20 for the next several cycles.

I peeked through the fill hole with a cheap usb endoscope and other than the stained valve cover baffle, the valve train appeared mostly clean down there.

Did the piston soak improve things? The Berrymans piston soak I did on my sons Kia Rio worked beautifully. A year and a half later and it doesn't burn a drop.
Oil level didn't drop but car was only driven 2800 miles after 12 months since the piston soak and OC. Previously it used up about 1 quart after 5-6k miles. Will drive the car more as I cycle through the Valvoline Restore and Protect.

Looks very much like the M&H "purolator" Tech TL filters that have same coo. Identical compression spring design. Not all TL filters made there though, at least not yet. My speculation, same filters by a different name. Looks fine.

Thanks for c&p.
