Purolator LX10358

The other day my local walmart switched over from Fram Endurance to these Purolator LX filters. I looked at the filter that would fit my Toyota Prius. They are similar to the OEM Toyota filter without end caps. $9.47 for a China filter in a box that says "Engineered in the USA." Nice green silicone o-ring.

Now, this is the kicker. This is the exact same filter as the Protec PXL57064 that I bought at Rockauto for about $2 a piece in a set of 12. Sorry Purolator, not paying $7 more for the Purolator box. And you can pick up a USA made wire backed Supertech ST10358 for $2.97.

That is probably one of the only good M+H filters out there right now because it is made in China.

Not seeing anything that stands out and says it’s worth spending $9.47 on but it doesn’t look bad.

Looks good to my eye. As for coo, as anecdotes posted over years have shown, not uncommon for the US spin on filter makers to have their cartridge filters off shore manufactured, China being very common. So, count 'me' as not outraged.

That said and as mentioned, if I was currently looking at a cartridge filter for a Toyota application, the current US made Super Tech cartridge for ~$3 off the WM shelf would be my first look for purchase.
