I'm not sure if I bought this from Amazon or Walmart, I have two receipts, would have been 2013 either way. I have one just like it on my Honda right now, for my piece of mind and out of fairness, I figured I'd cut one open with my shiny new Longacre. Maybe someone can decode the date for me. My comments later.

I've opened many of the 14610's mostly P1's but several AAP Total Grips which would be similar to the L14610, and posted them post use. And fwiw, I've never had tear in a 14610 and variants. This looks fine to me, similar to all I've used. Of course the proof of the pudding these days is post use.

Made 3/01/13

Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the date decode. I can't find anything wrong with it, and I think it is a great value for $3.61 from Amazon.

I'm now confident to leave its brother on the Honda for the full OCI. I'll cut it open and post once I remove it, but that will probably be a couple of months.

Purolators...they look great until you use them

I have cut open this exact filter before and it looked the same. Nice tight pleat spacing, metal crimp, metal end caps...but there are just too many tears lately for me to consider using one.

This photo shows pretty large pleat spacing at the seam, but the pleats have very little V-spread which is good. Probably not a tear candidate. Looks pretty decent over-all.

F = Fayetteville, NC
03 = March?
E = ?
01 = numbered day of the month?
E = Line E
2 = 2nd shift

I get everything but the month and year. Does the first E = 2013?

03 is the third month of the year, March.

'E' is 2013 because 'A' is 2009. 2009 is the first year for the then new Classic, formerly Premium Plus, and the new P1yellow textured can (previous blue can). Also both improved their rated efficiency, ~96 to 97.5 for Classic, ~98 to 99.9 for P1.

Some seem to be under the impression that 08 would have been Z then. Imo, I don't believe that to be the case. Think Puro updated it's date code in 09 starting over with 'A' to coincide with it's new oil filters products offerings. There is an older post on Bitog stating they also updated the code in 1993.

I forgot to mention I pushed on the valve and it opened at a reasonable amount of pressure. I have no issues with the valve design, or anything about this individual filter.

I'll be back when that Classic in service is ripe.

From what we've seen posted here I have to agree.
