Depending on the model, some Napa-silvers are OK and some are junk.

I think the Napa-gold is equal to the Purolator Premium Plus.

What are the micron ratings for both.I know this is just an observation on my part here...but I'm using the Mobil oil filter on my Cherokee and the Purolater on my TJ and after 1000km the oil looks much cleaner with the Purolater...same oil being used and the same motor in both

The micron ratings of the Premium Plus and the NAPA Gold are very similar, so both filter out about the same level of particles, just that the NAPA Gold flows better. And with it's silicone antidrainback, it is better for longer drain intervals (less likely for this type to leak)

According to Bob's testing on flow, both filters flow the same.My local Napa doesn't carry the Gold brand, just a few applications in the silver...they have the Verdic brand here.I cut one open(Verdic) and found the paper to be brittle to the touch..almost like print paper. This is just an observation to be sure...but the Purolater paper "felt" better and the price was alot more reasonable as compared to the Napa(Verdic) brand...as for the drainback valves on both...never had any valve clatter or oil pressure lag with either brand.
