Napa 7356

I saw this a good while ago. I mentioned it a few threads awhile ago too.

Only problem is ….

These filters are like $12.99 vs Carquest Premium filters being $7.99 or maybe $ 8.99 …

And the AZ oil specials are actually quite decent with a PG STP and Valvoline, Pennzoil and Mobil 1.
AZ near me has a decent little $38 bundle going right now. 5qt STP FS oil, STP XL oil filter and STP cabin or air filter. Basically amounts to $16 for the oil, $6 for the oil filter and $16 for the air/cabin filter.

That’s a pretty good deal. If I needed it, that’s what I’d be doing.

Today I stopped by Auto Zone and checked out the STP XL oil filters. I was surprised to find they were all Champ made ecore. Is this new? I was expecting PG made filters.

The STP I put on in February of this year was Champ e-core but with a silicone ADBV, which was not the case for my Champs bought around the same time that had nitrile.

What were the date codes? I believe they were the supplier before PG.

They also may be 99% at 20 or 25 microns. That is if you trust the leaf spring seal.

Also, Napa I believe still uses Wix as well as PG. It depends on which coast you are on. I wonder if AZ are similar.

I’m on the east coast. I checked a dozen filters XL and standard. All champ made. Online shows PG made 99% 20 microns thats why I went to look.

It sure went up in price I just looked, the next one down, pure one, can be had cheaper, but there it goes again, cheapness on something that lasts a year.
On the other hand these O reilly etc Asian filters are $10 or more, so what’s the diff?

On paper, the Purolator Classic or the TL version (which is the same), is somewhat equivalent to PG XL. Both 10k miles, and some Classics are 99% at 25 microns, others are at 30 microns.

PureOne is 15k miles and some are 99% at 20 microns. Cellulose, synthetic fiber, and glass media.
