Good day all,

As you know there is a PureOne deal on Amazon.com. I will be getting 6 filters total for $2.74 a filter after rebate.

My plan is, since these PureOnes are expensive and excellent filters, to use a filter for 2 oil changes. What I will do is keep the filter for 10,000 miles, change the oil midway at 5,000 miles using Pennzoil Platinum.

Car: 1997 Toyota Camry w. 4 cyl. 5SFE
Any problem with this plan?
Thanks in advance.

I hope you ordered the three pairs separately and had them sent to three different addresses. It's only two rebates per household. That means only two filters each household.

no problems with that, i took advantage of the two for one deal a while back and have around 12 filters a piece for my bike and car.

You could do dino oil changes every 5K and save some money. What kind of mileage do you normally see? What type of driving? Highway miles, short trips, both??

Thanks. Yes I will be using PP for winter then dino oil for 5K miles after that.

My driving is about %60 city and %40 highway. Annual mileage is about 10,000 miles.

#1 I personally don't like Pure One..their shell is so thin that it scares me. The thinnest of all filters.

#2 I hate the idea of not changing a filter when oil is changed.

Likewise. An extra $4 or $5, or less, in this case, buys a lot of warm/fuzzy feelings.

Only reason I am doing it because there was a post of a member who kept the PureOne filter on his Corolla for 2 oil changes totaling 11K miles using Valvoline SynPower. I forgot who did it.

Most likely I will change the filter when time comes!

Thanks everyone.

My cut off is around 10k for the every other OCI/FCI. With your 60% city driving you've probably doing more virtual mileage than most in the same annual mileage accumulation where (something like) 30-35 miles a day is done commuting.
